While in our travels to Boston my partner and I J. Carlye decided to seek out some of the dopest and sickest haberdasheries in the area. Amongst our many stops, we stumbled upon and caught up with one of the Greatest Vintage Collectors of our time, Bobby Garnett of Bobby from Boston.
V: It’s been said that you’ve had some dealings with designer Ralph Lauren?
BG: Geez, you know I’ve done so much with them. We started dealing with them from the Greenfield Market, and 16 years ago when I put this place together I built it so that a lot of different designers could have a place to come and shop vintage. So I started from then, even Chaps is supposed to come in on Tuesday and stop by, however they’ll be spending most of the time at the warehouse. But I’ve met Ralph a few times, he’s introduced me to his wife and his kids. Let me see, at least 4 or 5 former employee’s of mine have gone on to work with Ralph Lauren.
V: That’s amazing! Anyone in particular.
BG: Well if you look on Vimeo there’s a story on Sean Crowley, he worked here for at least 3 years, he now designs ties over at Ralph Lauren.
V: You mentioned having a warehouse. Can you tell us a little more about that?
BG: Yeah it’s about 3 or 4 miles away from here. It’s about as triple the size of the store.
V: Bob that might be a little overwhelming for us! Laughter
BG: Laughter. You might have to stay at a near by hotel because you won’t be able to get through all of it in one day.
V: Hey Bob we really enjoy Inventory Magazine can you tell us anything about your upcoming feature?
BG: Those guys are great! They wrote up an article about me a while back, they said the write up should be about anywhere from 5-20 pages long. Hopefully that’ll be out in the middle of April! I’m really excited about the feature!
V: We’re looking forward to it as well! Thanks for your kind words!
BG: Not a problem! Make sure you send me a link to the Blog Guys!
V: No problem will do!
